Melvin Bryant
(aka Scotty Flash)
PRESIDENT
Born in Harlem, NY and raised in the Abraham Lincoln Projects of New York City, Melvin Bryant was effortlessly pulled into the great music scene the city had to offer. With Motown records and other music constantly playing late into the night, Mr. Bryant became fascinated by the beats that caught his attention. Curiosity turned into full blown love in 1969 when thousands of kids went to see Sly and the Family Stone at a free concert in Harlem. Years later, Mr. Bryant became a successful promoter for clubs and concerts in New York City. Mr. Bryant then went to work for Orpheus Records where he promoted talent such as Freddie Jackson, Najee, Meli’sa Morgan, Alex Bugnon, Lillo Thomas, and Hi Five. Along with his great contribution to the music scene, Mr. Bryant has been an exceptional member of the Storefront Academy in Harlem. Mr. Bryant has dedicated years and years to making the Storefront community safer and more accepting, feeling more and more like a home each day. After a tough day when a couple of students of the school got pulled over by police, it was more than evident that it was time for a major change in this community. The sense of connection is what really drives Mr. Bryant to making this community the best that he can be. Mr. Bryant is now the President of a Non-Profit organization, Bowman 6, which focuses primarily on the development of successful youth in the field of the arts, including Music, Film, and Fashion.

He also currently is the New York City Chief of Staff for State Assemblyman Herman D. Farrell, for whom he has worked since 1984. Prior to leading Infinity Mennonite in Harlem, Taylor participated in the church planting internship program of Redeemer Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the first One Life Mission Disaster Relief Team, which arrived in Haiti less than a week after the earthquake. In March 2010, Taylor made a return trip to Haiti with One Life, and he anticipates remaining involved in rebuilding and church-building efforts there in the years to come. Rev.
